sorry for lack of updates, here's what's new, basically.

OH boy, I know it's been a while, so let's just get right up to date with everything.

First off, Visions, the cover band, has been playing out consistently since January. We finally found a steady bass player, played a bunch of shows and are continuing to do so. I will not go nuts with putting the schedule of live shows on this page, so just go to The Visions Web Site for all things Visions.

Days Before Tomorrow inches closer and closer to finishing our EP. Lead vocals are done, backing vocals in progress and a few bits on my end that need to be finished are all that stand in our way. OH, and mixing and stuff. Hopefully soon, i can promote this damn thing as it's a long time coming and I am excited for everybody to hear it.

IN the meantime, a few new things to brag about...

Most people know me as the prog rock guy or the keyboardist who tries to sound to much like a guitarist. However, soon enough, a new CD will be coming out that I did organ tracks for that will shock you all. I will not spoil the surprise just yet, but it will be something those of you who know me will never have expected. but it is cool nonetheless.

And last but certainly not least, i am slowly dipping my toes into a solo album. I am working with a good friend of mine, Ian Baird of spring clock wonder who is also an excellent engineer and producer along with his talents on multiple instruments. He's nudging me and pushing me into working on something that has been long overdue, my own solo album. More details will follow as the material gets written and recorded. But this promises to be an interesting adventure as well.

So all this going on, plus learning somenew gear and living my life as much as I can, it's a busy time here. Hope to see some exciting things released before the end of summer. I'll try to update more often. Keep your eyes on this site and the others as well, as things are going to be heating up soon.

Gin Mill report and more

Wow...

Visions's show at the Gin Mill was a great success. I couldn't believe it. Great crowd, singing along, clapping after songs. Maybe we got lucky, but it was really a lot of fun to play, despite your typical bad on stage sound. To prove it, our guitar player posted up a video montage of the night. Click here to watch Visions rock the Gin Mill.

I also recorded the evening on my Zoom H4N digital recorder. Click here to download the whole show in mp3 format"> Sadly, the recording is from my position on stage, so vocals are faint and some of my keyboard parts got burried. since this link is to a large file on sendspace, there may come a time when it won't work. I may break up the entire show into certain songs and put them in the download section. Then again, I may spin off a new visions site, since we are actually gigging now. Who knows?

So, our next show is February 19 at High velocity in Beachwood, NJ. See the next news story for details. The Gin Mill wants us back on june 11, but it isn't confirmed just yet. Also, we're looking into other places as well. I'll report as we go, of course.

Not much more on the news front. DBT is now on vocals for the EP. Hopefully won't be too much longer.

I'll report more as there is more to report.

To begin, here are some actual Visions dates...

SATURDAY, January 29th, 2011, 11pm, with Special Guests RIPPED at 9pm @ THE GIN MILL, corner of Brighton Ave Afton St, Kearny NJ 07032

SATURDAY, February 19th, 2011, 11pm, with Special Guests RIPPED at 9pm @ HIGH VELOCITY, 226 Atlantic City Blvd (Rt. 166), Beachwood NJ 08722, 732-341-1055

SATURDAY, March 19th, 2011, 9pm, playing 3 LONG SETS!!! @ HARTLEY'S, 350 Belleville Tpke/Rt. 7, N. Arlington NJ, 201-991-0827

There may be more dates coming, so stay tuned. May set up a separate Visions site, but until then, you can look at the old one at this link.

IN other news, days Before tomorrow slowly treks through the recording of its EP. From what I know, 99 percent of instruments are tracked with only some guitar parts here and there and some orchestrations needing to be worked out, and then we move on to vocals. I say this every time, but I can't wait for you al to hear what we're doing.

It is my goal this year to become more active, but I said that last year, didn't I? I want to do more recording here in the studio. goals are to produce a solo album before the end of the year and maybe start my own cover project in addition to working with Visions and Days Before Tomorrow.

I plan on updating more and even using some of the little used features of this site like the blog. stay tuned as I figure out how to make these happen.

May 2011 bring us all better luck and better lives than 2010 did. I have a feeling this year is going to be an interesting ride, so come along.

Happy thanksgiving to you all. It's time for that annual tradition, to put the one Christmas song I've done at the top of the list and hopefully into the player. Maybe I'll do some more Christmas tunes this year, but not sure.

IN the meantime, Visions has some gigs coming up, January 29 a tthe Gin Mill and February 26 at High velocity, both clubs in NJ. No steady bass player yet, but we seem to have a stand in at least. Should make for an interesting time. More as I find time to publicize this right.

You can find me on facebook as Damon Fibraio and twitter as dfibraio, feel free to add me and say hi.

The dBT project continues to chug along. Fixing keyboard tracks and waiting for the guitars to get done as we speak.

Well, hopefully more to report soon.

November report

Recording for the Days Before tomorrow project continues. There is ever continuing improvement and redoing of keyboard parts coming from the studio here, plus guitars and bass and such. It's a slow process, but it will al be worth it in the end.

As for other things, it's all ideas right now, including wanting to do some christmas tunes, but no motivation, sadly. I did decide to put a quote from the Queen of the Ryche B.B. Kings review up on the top of the page just because. It just seemed like a good idea.

Anyway, nothing else to report really. Hopefully I can push myself to do something soon to justify my existence on this planet.

Sorry it's been so quiet, everybody. Been busy in the last week or so tracking keyboards for the next Days Before Tomorrow release. When this all comes together, you will all be blown away. it really is coming together nicely. Most of the keyboard tracking is finished, it is now just a matter of tweaking and stuff and maybe replacing some sounds. But the bulk of the work seems to be done for now. will keep you all posted.

Once this is finished, I am hoping to start work on my own solo project. We'll see how that goes.

Visions was going to get back together, but we're still bass player impaired. So, back to the drawing board there.

2011 is looking to be an interesting year as I look into attending the Louisiana Center for the blind to improve my independent living skills among other things, so a lot of musical projects may be on hold while I am down there, but sometimes, things need to be done to improve one's quality of life. I don't anticipate that this should cause too much upheaval as I can record DBT parts remotely. Hopefully things will progress along nicely. Stay tuned for more news.

Hoping to record a christmas tune or two this year. We'll see how that goes, depending on if I can actually get a quiet house to record vocals. We'll see.

That's all the news. See you all soon.

more updates

OK, so here is the latest news from the Keyboard guy...

The band that refuses to die, Visions, my old cover band that I was in from 1999-2005 is apparently trying to reform again. The lineup looks to be me, John Pine on vocals, Russ Murray on drums, some guy named bruce on guitar, and possibly bruce Leboff, our old bass player, on bass, or it may not be, who knows! Will put up the new site only when things are more confirmed.

DBT is about to start recording a new EP this month. Waiting on some loaner equipment. Tomorrow will obviously be one of the songs recorded plus 3 or 4 othes. Still working that out. the material is definitely more progressive and there is a lot more going on, however, the dBT elements are still there. This will be the first recorded output with me on it, so I am excited to get into this and see how it comes out.

As for other projects, I talk a good game, but motivation is just not coming my way. I have tons of original ideas lying around, but I just can't seem to get my ass in gear. Even the covers project is not happening, mostly due to laziness and burnout, probably. With fall approaching, maybe once the weather gets too cold, I'll have some motivation to go forward on this. It's a shame, I pay for this web site to promote myself, but no gigs really are surfacing and that's my fault, plus projects I am involved in are in a writing mode or can't get musicians together or whatever. It's all down to motivating myself to do projects and promote them, which is why I have this site in the first place and I shoudl justify my $20 a month on this, shouldn't I?

OH well, hoping to have some more news soon. Stay tuned.

It's been quiet...

I'm sorry about the lack of updates lately. The June 9 radio broadcast went well, I just wish I had an archive of it to hear myself. Our new song, Tomorrow, seems to be getting great reception whereever we play it, which is nice. Not much has been done since that show, but DBT is hard at work writing and we hope to start recording our next release this month.

I've been struck hard by a lack of motivation lately, as my summer has not been a very good one and personal issues have been slowing me down. However, aside from DBT, here are some things I hope to accomplish in the next few months.

1. I've been getting pestered by afriend to mine to start work on my own solo project. For me, writing alone is not easy, but I suppose it would allow me an avenue to vent out things and express myself outside the confines of a band. So, that is on the table and I hope I can pull myself together enough to give it some time.

2. A solo project, where I assemble arrangements in the studio of songs and go out and play live to the backing tracks. This would allow me to earn alittle cash and also to be able to play out live and sing, something I don't get to do much. I'd be free form the constraints of a cover band where you have to deal with the other musician's skill level, equipment shortcomings, and the whole I don't want to really do that song, thing. But the downside is that I'd have to learn all the parts of the songs I want to do and arrange it in studio. Lots of control, but lots of responsibility.

So, in addition to DBT, I am hoping to maybe get motivated enough to try these other things. Time will tell, though.

The central park gig for DBT was canceled, which is abummer, but it does free us up to continue writing without having to rehearse for a show. So, there is asilver lining somewhere, however, I was looking forward to playing on that stage.

That's it for now. I keep swearing I am going to update this site more. I am paying for it after all. As I start putting together some covers for the covers project, I'll upload them here, as I need to assemble a demo to bring to clubs anyway. Stay tuned.
