Damon Fibraio: Home

Welcome to the official Damon Fibraio web site.

Since nobody can ever spell my name, I took my nickname, Keyboard Guy, as the site title. I am a keyboardist and vocalist from central New Jersey. I write, record, and perform as a solo artist and play in Days Before Tomorrow, which is an all original progressive rock band. This site is a way to keep up with whatever projects I am doing at the time. Check back often as I hope to keep updating this thing regularly. You can also Email me by going to the contact info page if you have suggestions for site improvements or features, or if you just want to say hello.

It's been quiet... - August 21, 2010

I'm sorry about the lack of updates lately. The June 9 radio broadcast went well, I just wish I had an archive of it to hear myself. Our new song, Tomorrow, seems to be getting great reception whereever we play it, which is nice. Not much has been done since that show, but DBT is hard at work writing and we hope to start recording our next release this month.

I've been struck hard by a lack of motivation lately, as my summer has not been a very good one and personal issues have been slowing me down. However, aside from DBT, here are some things I hope to accomplish in the next few months.

1. I've been getting pestered by afriend to mine to start work on my own solo project. For me, writing alone is not easy, but I suppose it would allow me an avenue to vent out things and express myself outside the confines of a band. So, that is on the table and I hope I can pull myself together enough to give it some time.

2. A solo project, where I assemble arrangements in the studio of songs and go out and play live to the backing tracks. This would allow me to earn alittle cash and also to be able to play out live and sing, something I don't get to do much. I'd be free form the constraints of a cover band where you have to deal with the other musician's skill level, equipment shortcomings, and the whole I don't want to really do that song, thing. But the downside is that I'd have to learn all the parts of the songs I want to do and arrange it in studio. Lots of control, but lots of responsibility.

So, in addition to DBT, I am hoping to maybe get motivated enough to try these other things. Time will tell, though.

The central park gig for DBT was canceled, which is abummer, but it does free us up to continue writing without having to rehearse for a show. So, there is asilver lining somewhere, however, I was looking forward to playing on that stage.

That's it for now. I keep swearing I am going to update this site more. I am paying for it after all. As I start putting together some covers for the covers project, I'll upload them here, as I need to assemble a demo to bring to clubs anyway. Stay tuned.

DBT played Starland ballroom opening up for the Outlaws. It was an interesting show. Again, we played the new song, Tomorrow, to great reception. Who knew Southern rock fans would like us? Anyway, if you search on youtube, there is video highlights from that show. IN fact, here is the link.

DBT is playing in Central Park, NY on September 4. It's a 4 hour festival of sorts and we're smack in the middle of the show at 2:00 PM. Hopefully there will be a huge crowd there as well.

Last but certainly not least, in addition to my endorsement by Kurzweil, I am now also a Clavia performing artist. Clavia makes the Nord brand of keyboards. These keyboards are awesome as they don't really have significant displays and everything is on a knob or button which is awesome for us blind people. Anyway, you can check out Clavia's stuff at Clavia's web site. And of course, Kurzweil can be found at Kurzweil's web site.
OK, so that's all the news so far. Hope to hear some feedback on the show tomorrow night.

Post ROS-Fest - May 2, 2010

The last few weeks have been fun, musically at least. I was interviewed on Class X Radio during their fund raiser to raise money for the station. A few days later, Scott and Eric from Days Before Tomorrow were interviewed as well. As of last week, LIghters, a DBT song is ranked number 5 on Class X radio's listings so go there and request it. You can also request sleepwalking as well, so let's get on that and push more dBT onto the world.

We played Concert for a Cause 8 and ROS-fest, or at least the after show party for night 1. I have video and hope I can eventually put something up to see for you all, especially since we went down really well. I even got to sign some CDs. That was a treat. The new DBT song went over so well and that really made me feel good especially as it was the first DBT material that I contributed to for writing and so I felt like the direction we were taking is validated and that is extremely appreciated and encouraging.

Now, onto the remainin gstuff. May 21, at the sTarland ballroom, opening up for the Outlaws. Again, tickets can be purchased at the days before Tomorrow web site. Details about shows still to come are below.

With a small window of downtime, I am hoping to start doing more recording again. I suppose time will tell. Stay tuned to this site for things as they happen.
